Meet HRCU's Assistant Vice President for Financial Services, Carlynne Pouliot! Carlynne's role is that of a difference-maker, not only in the lives of our members but also in the lives of the teams that work under her. Carlynne leads with a smile in everything she does and prides herself on helping members and branch staff alike reach their full potential.
What is your role at HRCU?
"I oversee the branch network and member support center for the credit union. My team and I strive to ensure that the daily operations of the branches and member support run efficiently and smoothly. We continuously seek ways to enhance our members' experience, making a positive impact on their lives by assisting them in achieving their financial goals and deepening their relationship with HRCU. Our commitment to our members is a vital aspect of the credit union that we take seriously - from the greeting you receive to the goodbye when you leave, each interaction is one we take great pride in."
What makes you passionate about your work?
"I began my journey in the credit union industry right after giving birth to my son in 2010, starting as a part-time teller. I swiftly progressed through various roles at a credit union in Rhode Island. Over the years, I have held every frontline position across multiple credit unions. Upon relocating to New Hampshire in 2015, I dedicated my time to educating individuals on financial matters and assisting members facing financial challenges in rebuilding their credit. It has always been my passion to transform lives by enhancing their credit scores, aiding with budgeting, and promoting their financial well-being.
Transitioning from teaching to nursing and now back to the credit union sector where I envision retiring from one day has been fulfilling. Since joining HRCU, I have achieved significant milestones in my career and am eager for what lies ahead. My daily drive stems from not only impacting our members' lives positively but also influencing the growth and development of my team members. Guiding them towards building a successful career path within the credit union industry is immensely rewarding - knowing that each day's work makes a meaningful difference for someone."
How do you and your team help members reach their financial goals?
"Every day, we assist our members with their financial needs, requests, and questions through in-person interactions, phone calls, and digital channels. We offer various services to help our members achieve their financial goals such as debt consolidation loans, assistance with moving their banking to HRCU, and analyzing their spending patterns. In recent years, fraud has become increasingly common and our frontline staff works tirelessly to educate our members about different scams, fraudulent checks, and other potential pitfalls. We also provide financial counseling services to help our members create budgets, review their credit, refinance their debt, and manage their auto loans - all with the aim of putting more money back into their daily budget. Our app offers members various tools to further improve their financial lives. If you haven't received your financial wellness check-up yet this year, we encourage you to visit one of our branches to see one of our CCUFCs. They will be delighted to help you start the year off on the right foot with a wellness check."
Lastly, what are some things you enjoy outside of work?
"Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family. This includes attending my son's football games in Dover where he has been playing as a Seacoast Titan for the last 7 years. Additionally, I have served on the board. I also visit my daughter at college in Northern NH and simply enjoy spending time around the community with them. Football is a significant part of our lives currently, especially being the mom on the sideline cheering my son on as he finishes his final youth season and moves onto high school; it has been an exciting experience.
During the summer, I love going to Bow Lake to spend time with friends swimming in the lake and watching the loons. Loons are fascinating birds to me, so during summer and fall, I often venture out to capture photos of them. I then send these photos to my grandparents who are in their 90s; they have instilled in me a love for nature and traveling throughout my life."
