Our AARP BankSafe-trained team is here to help. HRCU is one of only 193 financial organizations nationally that earned the 2025 BankSafe Trained Seal, underscoring the credit union’s long-standing efforts to protect against the financial exploitation of its older members. For the fifth year in a row, HRCU exceeded AARP’s requirements by requiring the training for all member-serving associates.

Protecting yourself and your finances starts with being vigilant about how you handle, share, and safeguard your sensitive information.

A few important reminders to keep in mind:

  • Always use caution when asked for personal information.
  • Always know who you are speaking with when discussing personal information.
  • Never give your Social Security number or PINs over the phone or via email.

Take advantage of Card Management, an easy-to-use tool in Online Banking and HRCU's Mobile App, that helps prevent fraud by controlling when, where, and how your debit and credit cards are used.

  • Sign your new cards immediately in permanent ink.
  • Use your driver’s license for identification, and never leave your credit or debit card as a security deposit.
  • Report lost or stolen cards immediately.
  • Never carry your PIN or write it on your card, and avoid using easily guessed numbers like your birthdate.
  • Monitor your accounts weekly for unauthorized transactions.
  • Review your credit reports regularly to catch signs of identity theft—visit annualcreditreport.com for free access.
